DS 397 : Materials physics and chemistry

The Doctoral School of Physics and Chemistry of Materials takes a broad approach to the science of materials, linking contributions from physics and chemistry and interfacing with living sciences, Earth and environmental sciences.

The research conducted at the school's host laboratories ranges from the most fundamental theoretical aspects to applications and their industrial use.

Major research topics include:

  • materials for reactivity and catalysis
  • organic-inorganic hybrid materials
  • functional materials (optics, magnetics, biomaterials)
  • polymer materials
  • nanostructures (nanomagnetism and spintronics)
  • mesoscopic physics (granulars, aggregates and surfaces)

DS 397 works with UPMC (its affiliated university) and the PSL consortium (ENSCP, ESPCI, ENS, Collège de France).
