Manuscript language

As the thesis results in the issuing of a French national diploma, as a rule, it is written and defended in French.

However, for scientific reasons, the subject of the thesis may require the use of a language other than French.

As decided by the UPMC Scientific Board on 4 March 2013, it is up to doctoral school directors, who have jurisdiction over scientific issues, to decide on the language of the thesis.

In accordance with the ministerial recommendation, a long written summary of the thesis is required in French.
