THE DOCTORAL INSTITUTE

Welcome

If you would like to enter a doctoral programme at UPMC but don't speak French, then the English version of this website is for you.

The Doctoral Education Institute implements UPMC's doctoral policy.

It coordinates all of the doctoral schools, optimises training opportunities, resources and administrative services related to the doctorate.

A doctorate is completed within a research unit (or laboratory), which is where you will work on your doctorate on a daily basis. The laboratory is part of a doctoral school (DS), which is responsible for the successful completion of the doctoral project.

A doctorate is a three-year professional experience consisting of an original research project.
At UPMC, the doctorate is considered the starting point in a young researcher's career.
Doctoral researchers therefore participate in a recruitment process. They are paid and may access continuing education (while the training offer in English is gradually expanding, most training courses are offered in French).
The UPMC doctoral charter describes each party's rights and responsibilities.
It is signed by all of the parties at the end of the recruitment process.
You can also refer to the National Charter for Ethics in Research Activities (in French only).

For help with the administrative process

On the Formalities and Practical Details section of the website, a specific section on visas and other formalities is designed just for you.

In addition to the Doctoral Information & Registration Office, a special section for international doctoral candidates is available to answer any questions.
